About the Author

Joseph Lyon "Joel" Andrews, Jr., MD is a physician, author, activist, and history buff. A former resident of Boston, he now lives in Concord, where he is a licensed Concord Guide, founder and director of Concord Guides Walking Tours, and a former member of the Concord Historical Commission. Dr. Andrews is a native of New York City, a graduate of Amherst College, and a freelance writer for the Boston Globe. An Air Force veteran and descendant of Revolutionary War soldiers and patriots, he is Surgeon of the Massachusetts Sons of the American Revolution. Dr. Andrews is a practicing internist-pulmonologist who formerly practiced at the Lahey Clinic, was chief of pulmonary medicine at New England Deaconess Hospital, and taught at Harvard Medical School. Currently he is Lecturer in Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He is also a free-lance writer for the Boston Globe and for many other publications.
